They can also be used for resin casting, nail art, glass etching, & more. It now requires UV in the higher spectrum to charge the crystals and make them GLOW. UV Ultra Violet light is the electromagnetic radiation from Sunlight with a wavelength shorter than white light. In summer the paint supercharges on the emitting UV rays from sunlight and makes the paint REALLY POP, however in the winter months when there is limited UV in the suns rays then it is harder to charge the paint. Red Glow in the Dark Powder – 1/2 oz – No UV Light Needed!

Glow Color: Red / Deep Orange Daytime Color: White Ultraviolet Color: Red Glow Time: 1 – 2 Hours Micron Size: < 50 Temperature Resistance: up to 350°C/660°F Super Phosphorescent glow in the dark powder pigment from GLO Effex is a rechargeable luminous product made out of the highest grade alkaline earth aluminate activated by rare earth ions. These charge limitless times by light and emit an afterglow for hours without the need of any UV lighting. Use to create dramatic lighting effects in almost and medium and application. The Super Phosphorescent Pigment can be mixed in nail acrylics, glue, plastics, resins, paint, ink, coating, making slime, ceramics, glass, plastisol, enamel, acrylic, ice, clay, rubber, silicone, wax etc. Why Use Super Phosphorescent Pigment? Non-toxic, non-radioactive and odorless. Strontium Aluminate. Longer afterglow than cheap powders on the market and zinc based powders. Afterglow and brightness, ten times stronger than Zinc Sulfide powder. Shelf life of more than 10 years. Weather resistant. Glow Powder does not change the characteristics of the medium. These are NOT Zinc Sulfide. These pigments are non-toxic and odorless. The basic structure of the particle is crystalline, which has a tremendous capacity of absorbing, storing, and emitting light. The crystals absorb any ambient light, including regular indoor light. This provides incredible potential in safety, novelty, and industrial applications. Basic Guidelines For Using the Super Phosphorescent Pigment. More powder, higher percentage will produce brighter, longer glow. Use a white, or light color as a background for best results. Any color other than white will diminish glow. Use the clearest vehicle possible. Any pigment in the vehicle will decrease the brightness and length of glow. The thicker (to a point) the layer of Super Phosphorescent Pigment will produce longer and brighter luminosity. Try to prevent moisture in the manufacturing process. Do not use vehicle with high acidity. Do not grind the Super Phosphorescent Pigment, it will destroy the crystal structure and therefore decrease luminosity. Ratio of Super Phosphorescent Pigment to medium is from 10% to 50% by weight depending on application. Two of the most frequently asked questions in regards to Glow Powder are: What can I do with it? The problem is that you can do almost anything with it. You can mix it into almost any mediums such as wax, paint, caulking, ceramic glaze, plastics, glue etc. It has numerous industrial applications for safety and fun for home use in arts and crafts. It is the all purpose pigment in its truest sense. Clients are using it in everything from candles, printing, woodworking projects, nail painting, shirts, making glow slime and of course making paint. How much powder does it take? This universal question has one answer. It is up to you. The amount of powder to medium will depend on how much glow desired, cost effectiveness, type of application method etc. The Basic Guidelines dictate from 10% to 50% by weight. If you are producing a low cost item, then a lower percentage would work best for you. If you are screen printing shirts and want to make only one pass, a higher percentage would work better. Please also consider the color of the surface to which the medium is going to be applied. Experimentation will be the best method of determining ratios after following the guidelines.
