Clay, also know as Bole is used in traditional water gilding process. The bole is mixed with rabbit skin glue and applied to the prepared surface before laying down the gold leaf. This bole is made in USA by Sinopia. Sinopia Clay Boles are designed for use in water-gilding and this Classic French Yellow is a historic colour, designed to emulate the standard yellow clay bole used by the French gilders up to the late 1960s.
