Step into a spacious two-day immersion with artists e bond and Jenn Graves, where marks become memory, prints become pathways, and the act of making becomes a ritual of attention. This workshop is an invitation—to pause, to play, to touch the surface of things and listen for what wants to emerge. Through a rhythm of layered questions, techniques and inquiry, we’ll explore the intuitive and intentional gestures that make up mark-making and print.
Day One: The Language of Marks
We begin by arriving—not just in the space, but in our senses. e and Jenn will share glimpses into their processes and philosophies, opening up space for you to discover your singular rhythm of mark-making. We’ll use gel plates, ink, and paint, along with stencils and stamping to make monoprints and patterns that explore how repetition, resistance, and residue shape both paper and practice. This is a day for exploration. No need for precision. Just presence, curiosity, and a willingness to see what shows up.
Day Two: Assembly, Imprint, Possibility
The second day invites a different kind of attention: sorting, selecting, and seeing what remains. We’ll gather the prints made the day before, noticing patterns, textures, and surprises. In the morning, you’ll be introduced to letterpress printing—where individual prints may be recomposed, re-layered, or transformed. After lunch, we open into a generative afternoon of shaping: What might these prints become? A series? A story? A surface for something new? We’ll explore playful and practical ways to bring your newly made prints into form—zines, cards, stitched pages, or simply quiet experiments that hold their own beauty.

About the artists:
Jennifer Graves (aka Jenn) is a letterpress printer and book artist based in Los Angeles, California. Prior to her decision to pursue art, Jenn taught and worked in the public school and library systems. Since taking her first letterpress class she has spent years growing, refining her own skills, teaching, and learning from others.
Her prints and collaborative artist book have been exhibited across the US and internationally. Jennifer is an adjunct professor at Otis College of Art and Design where she teaches book structures. She also teaches letterpress and bookbinding workshops at the International Printing Museum and various entities throughout the country.
SCRAPScollective is a petite letterpress shop and book arts studio by Jenn Graves.
The idea, SCRAPScollective, danced around in the mind of Jenn Graves for many years. The busyness of life often allows us to only devote “scraps” of time to the things that feed our creative souls, leaving us wandering creatively. Imagine taking those scraps of time on a creative journey by slowing down using your hands to create meaningful experiences and beautiful art.
e bond is an artist + designer + writer + bookbinder & educator. Currently she creates art for fabric collections by day, makes handmade books by night, hangs out with trees on weekends and writes something close to poems in the spaces between. Under the studio name roughdrAftbooks, she makes one-of-a-kind artists books, prints and abstract drawings that blur the boundaries of art, craft, printmaking and poetry. e holds a BFA in graphic design and an MFA in Book Art & Poetry. Her work is held in library collections across the US and has been published in numerous publications and books (about books).
