This is an antique hand carved stanhope dip pen/letter opener. These souvenirs were popular among visitors to the Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré shrine in Quebec, Canada, which became a major pilgrimage site in the late 19th century. They were made in the late 19th century to early 20th century. The Stanhope lens has a black and white picture of the Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupre statue, the one with her holding a child with the words Sainte Anne De Beaupre in text. The metal portion is missing the tip that would be dipped in ink. Overall, in very good condition. The wood is a lighter colored wood but not as light as in the pictures.
